Peter Dempster is a director of Syneca Consulting. His area of expertise is policy and program analysis, involving the use of economic, statistical and modelling tools to assess policy issues,
options and proposals. Most of his work over the last several years has been in the assessment of regulatory measures to improve the energy efficiency
and greenhouse characteristics of appliances and buildings. Peter’s has worked as a consultant since 1996, including work on the structural provisions of building codes and regulations, the assessment of energy efficiency and greenhouse abatement proposals, assessment of tourism-related impacts, air and water quality projects and the evaluation of research and development programs for major research organisations. His earlier career was as a lecturer in macroeconomics, monetary and labour economics at the University of Canberra and University of New England, and 10 years as a Commonwealth public servant, in the Office of the Economic Planning and Advisory Council and the Bureau of Industry Economics. Peter is a Member of the Economic Society of Australia, the Australasian Evaluation Society and the Australian Institute of Energy. |

Ron Groenhout is a director of Syneca Consulting. His area of expertise is the assessment of economic and financial impacts arising from decisions on policies, programs and projects.
He has extensive experience in studies where the major impacts are constituted by non-market benefits, such as protection against environmental damage,
the conservation of ecosystems and natural areas, and reduction in risks to public health and occupational safety. His approach emphasises the quantitative and analytical making use of his background in mathematics and statistical analysis. Much of Ron’s consulting work is for the public sector. He has over ten years experience in the NSW public service providing economics policy advice at senior levels in NSW Treasury, and the transport and environment protection areas. His clients include Subsequently over a period of 12 years his consulting clients include health and human service departments in NSW and the ACT, environment protection agencies at the state and federal level, public sector authorities, local councils and community groups. Ron brings a deep understanding of how economic appraisal can support good decision-making in policy development. He brings to the consultancies he works on a wealth of experience in applying economic and mathematical concepts to investigate real world problems. |

Ignatius Verbeek B.Eng (University of Newcastle) |

Ignatius Verbeek is a Director of Syneca Consulting.
His areas of expertise include Life Cycle Analysis and greenhouse and environmental profiling of products and organisations.
Ignatius has over 20 years experience in a diverse range of environmental areas. He worked as a senior Environmental Engineer with BHP-Billiton, involved in Environmental Management Systems, Audits, acoustics, risk, waste management and pollution control. While working for BHP Research he was instrumental in the development of a comprehensive LCA capability and has complete numerous LCA studies and presented at a number of conferences. As program managed for the NSW Sustainable Energy Development Authority he was responsible for the development and launch of the Australian Building Greenhouse Scheme. Over the past few years Ignatius has completed a number of Greenhouse Friendly™ projects and is one of four experts on the Australian Government’s Greenhouse Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) panel providing support to clients seeking Federal Greenhouse Certification. Other recent projects include tourism impact studies, companywide LCA studies, energy efficiency studies and software development projects. |
